I agree, but I think you’re taking this out of context. hooks isn’t talking about dysphoria here (as I understand it? I may be misremembering the full text).

She isn’t. But that’s part of the problem. A comment like this requires qualification. And this notion is very popular in progressive circles but is never qualified. What this notion commonly leads to is judgment against people who decide to take steps to change their bodies for whatever reason.
